Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of AlwaysVigil's automated check-in service. This policy is designed to protect AlwaysVigil, its users, and the broader internet community from unethical, irresponsible, and illegal activities. Violation of this policy may result in immediate account suspension or termination without refund.
2. Acceptable Uses
AlwaysVigil is intended for personal, non-commercial use to communicate with loved ones in the event of death or incapacitation. Acceptable uses include:
- Sharing final messages, memories, or personal wishes with family and friends
- Providing account credentials, passwords, or access information to loved ones
- Sharing location of important documents (wills, insurance policies, etc.)
- Expressing gratitude, apologies, or final thoughts to loved ones
- Providing instructions for care of dependents, pets, or property
- Sharing financial account information (with appropriate security precautions)
- Communicating funeral wishes or end-of-life preferences
3. Prohibited Uses
The following activities are STRICTLY PROHIBITED and will result in immediate account termination:
Illegal Content
- Any content that violates local, state, federal, or international law
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or exploitation content
- Content promoting terrorism, violence, or illegal activities
- Instructions for creating weapons, explosives, or illegal drugs
- Stolen data, hacked credentials, or pirated content
- Content that infringes on intellectual property rights
Harmful or Harassing Content
- Threats, harassment, stalking, or intimidation of any individual
- Defamatory, libelous, or fraudulent statements about individuals or organizations
- Hate speech, discrimination, or content targeting protected classes
- Revenge messages, doxxing, or sharing private information without consent
- Messages designed to cause emotional distress, panic, or harm
- False accusations or malicious rumors
Malicious Technical Activities
- Uploading viruses, malware, ransomware, or malicious code
- Phishing attempts, social engineering, or credential harvesting
- Automated scraping, crawling, or unauthorized API access
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to AlwaysVigil systems or user accounts
- DDoS attacks or intentional service disruption
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, or tampering with AlwaysVigil software
Spam and Abuse
- Sending unsolicited commercial messages or advertisements
- Using AlwaysVigil for bulk email campaigns or marketing
- Creating multiple accounts to evade restrictions or abuse quotas
- Selling, reselling, or sublicensing AlwaysVigil services
Privacy Violations
- Sharing private information about third parties without consent
- Adding recipients to your account without their knowledge or consent
- Violating confidentiality agreements or non-disclosure agreements
- Sharing medical records, financial data, or personal information of others
4. Consequences of Violations
Violations of this Acceptable Use Policy will result in the following actions:
- Warning: First-time minor violations may result in a warning and request to remove prohibited content
- Account Suspension: Temporary suspension (7-30 days) for moderate violations while under investigation
- Account Termination: Immediate and permanent termination for serious violations
- No Refunds: Subscription fees are non-refundable for accounts terminated due to AUP violations
- Legal Action: We reserve the right to report illegal activity to law enforcement
5. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any violations of this policy, please report them immediately to:

We investigate all reports within 48 hours and take appropriate action. Reports are kept confidential.
6. Monitoring and Enforcement
AlwaysVigil reserves the right to monitor usage patterns to detect abuse, review reported content, remove or suspend accounts that violate this policy, and cooperate with law enforcement in criminal investigations.
Note: Note: We do NOT routinely read user messages for privacy reasons, but we will investigate reported violations and comply with legal obligations.
